Box Stitching in California
Date, Times and Location
About the Event
I will be attending the workshop of Fine Leatherworking to teach three courses in June.
The three parts of the course will be:
Part One: A Box Stitched Pouch.
In part one of this course, you’ll make a sturdy pouch which is a great way to be introduced to the box-making technique. You can derive a host of other projects from this style like belt pouches, card and phone cases. You can even expand this exact pattern, add a strap and create a hard-sided satchel.
Part Two: A round Box or Tub.
With part one’s foundation under your belt, you’ll deepen your repertoire of box-making techniques. You’ll produce the next level project of box-making, a round case. We’ll add more parts as well as the techniques to build them. You’ll incorporate these more elaborate components into part two’s project.
Part Three – A Mitred Box
By taking the time to master the skills in session one and two, you’ll be ready to tackle the serious challenge of creating a complete box with a lid and mitred corners.
Learn how to create consistent corners and edges which are the true sign of great craftsmanship in box making. Unlike other box-making techniques, you won’t need a wood form. This is a true all-leather box, which is very sturdy and can be made with just leather tools. Building a Mitred Box includes:
